What does X458 mean when talking about X458 conveyor chains?
Rivetless conveyor chains come in various different sizes, with the most typical being X348, X458 and X678. The fist number in the designation refers to the chain pitch, being 4″ for the X458 chain. The second and third digits refers to the size of the pin. So an X458 chain has a 4″ pitch, and pin size of 5/8″ and is therefore referred to as X458 conveyor chain.

As long as it is X458 conveyor chain, aren’t all conveyor chains the same?
Although at first glance, conveyor chains might look similar, there are vast differences between Jervis Webb Microloy conveyor chains and other brands. Original Webb conveyor chain has a 20% greater strength to weight ratio than other carbon chains. Our chains are precision forged to ensure maximum contact between wear surfaces. Each and every chain section is assembled and tested before it leaves the plant. Lower quality conveyor chains will wear faster, resulting in possible breakage or reduced life.
