CONVEYOR MANUFACTURERS FOR INDUSTRIAL CONVEYOR SYSTEMS

If you need conveyor systems, Ultimation has the solution. We’ve been a leading conveyor systems manufacturer for over 30 years. Our industrial conveyor systems take the pain out of lifting, carrying, and storage. This helps employees avoid injuries and increases productivity. Conveyors simplify product loading and unloading and reduce accidental damage. Our solutions can provide part storage buffers, pass through ovens and supply parts to and from industrial robots. Conveyors make material handling more efficient.

Our name, Ultimation, was born from the vision that we could become the “Ultimate in Automation”. We supply standardized equipment and custom turn-key engineered solutions for specific applications. If you need conveyors quickly, we have many models that can ship immediately.

Regardless of the size of your material handling needs, Ultimation can provide a conveyor system for you! We work with companies as large as the leading automotive brands to small businesses. We’re located in South East Michigan with a great supply base and engineering talent pool. Our geographic focus is the design, build and installation of systems throughout the Americas.

WE BRING TOGETHER THE TOP BRANDS IN MATERIAL HANDLING

Ultimation’s in-house manufacturing and design team can do it all. But sometimes the best solutions involve integrating components from other leading manufacturers. Our relationships with other leading brands in the industrial conveyor systems space include:

  • Jervis B Webb / Daifuku. Ultimation is the largest integrator of Webb overhead conveyors. Webb equipment is the “gold standard” for power and free conveyors
  • Itoh Denki MDR conveyors. These innovative motor driven roller conveyors are the ‘go to’ solution for distribution centers.
  • Interroll is another leading European MDR supplier. Ultimation provides ‘quick ship’ modules of conveyor with Interroll motors.
  • Interlake Mecalux is our partner for material handling rack and storage solutions. We also integrate ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems) with Mecalux

Worried about connecting it all together? Most of our material handling systems equipment comes to you either already networked or network-ready. Connecting to factory information systems is becoming a common requirement. We work with most of the major providers. Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation are our electrical hardware choices for many systems. All our major machinery systems and automated conveyor systems include a remote monitoring solution. That enables us to help troubleshoot and optimize your line with remote access.

When developing a material handling system for a large factory, there’s no room for error. We understand there’s a tight time slot. The installation of every component must go together exactly as needed.

PRODUCTIVITY SOLUTIONS, MADE IN USA

Our team members include conveyor experts as well as general industrial specialists. Ultimation’s leadership team have decades of experience running conveyor manufacturers. We also have key employees that have run assembly plants. This helps us understand our customers’ needs for productivity. If you need a complex industrial automation solution, we can provide that. But sometimes simpler solutions like gravity conveyors or powered roller conveyors are better. Either way, you can trust our team to share the benefits of industrial conveyors and automation solutions.

HOW DO CONVEYOR SYSTEMS HELP MY PRODUCTIVITY?

Conveyors are one of the simplest and fastest productivity improvements that a fast growing business can implement. Simple conveyors like roller conveyors or overhead I-beam trolleys can have a payback of days or weeks. Larger systems that we implement often have payback periods of 3-6 months.

One helpful way to think about the value of an automated conveyor system can be to use the Japanese Quality Control concept of “Muda”, or waste. Muda is a Japanese term which means “futility, uselessness, idleness or wastefulness”. Collectively the concepts are often known as the “7 types of waste”. Here’s how conveyors can help reduce each of the 7 types of waste:

  1. Over Production. This is a common type of waste. Conveyors help balance each of the process steps. If buffers are used, they are intentional amounts of product in between processes. As process capability improves, conveyors can be used to reduce buffers in between processes as well.
  2. Transportation. It seems obvious, but paying employees to carry product from point A to point B in an industrial environment is a high cost, high risk productivity loss. Conveyor systems have immediate payback here.
  3. Inventory. Conveyors can store inventory, select the correct item from inventory and make it easier to count inventory.
  4. Poor process. By using conveyors, you can standardize your production process. Once you’ve found the best process steps, conveyors enable you to have everyone repeat those steps in the same order. A slat conveyor with tooling is often used as an assembly line like this
  5. Waiting. Watching employees wait for parts to arrive from another process is like watching money burn. Conveyors deliver parts from one process to another at high speed. Motor Driven Roller (MDR) modules that Ultimation makes in 10′ sections with either two or three zones per module can run at speeds up to 180 feet per minute. That’s way faster than anything else in the warehouse!
  6. Defects and Damage. By presenting parts to the operator in the right orientation, assembly is easier. Conveyors move parts without dropping them too.
  7. Motion. This is like #2, but includes steps like walking to get materials, reaching, bending or stretching. Conveyors are used to reduce or eliminate these wasteful actions

The Toyota Production System (TPS) was developed by Taiichi Ohno to reduce these types of waste. Our team have a wealth of experience to help you use conveyors as part of your productivity improvement plans.
